PixInsight Procedure
PixInsight Calibrating and Stacking Tutorial
My Notes (from Processing NGC 4565)
De-Bayer
- The 60 flats are in /Volumes/Astronomy Data/2022 Targets/April 06 2022/NGC 4565/flat/. The first thing I did was De-Bayer them into flat-debayered.
- The 60 lights are in /Volumes/Astronomy Data/2022 Targets/April 06 2022/NGC 4565/light/. I De-Bayer them into light-debayered.
Integrate Master Flat
- Use the ImageIntegration process to make a master flat from the De-Bayered flats.
Calibrate
- Open the ImageCalibration process. Add the 60 De-Bayered lights and calibrate with the master flat.
Align (Register)
- Using the StarAlignment process (under ImageRegistration). I used image 5558 (from the middle of the series) as the reference.
Stack (Integrate)
- Use the ImageIntegration process to integrate the aligned images.
Adjust
- Stretch the images in PixInsight.
- Import into an ordinary image processing app (I used Apple Photos) to set black point, saturation, and color balance and apply sharpening.
